Residential Family and Concerned Persons Counseling and Education
Because addiction is a family disease, New Beginnings Minnesota highly encourages family members and loved ones to be involved in the patient’s treatment and recovery process.
It has been determined that substance abuse by one addict affects ten other people. Therefore, we involve families and concerned persons throughout the treatment process in education, prevention, and ongoing support. This helps rebuild healthy relationships as part of the recovery process.
Educational and support topics include: disease progression; family and concerned persons response to the illness; communication skills; patient relapse prevention and the continuum of patient care planning.
Family Program Details
New Beginnings provides families with the opportunity to participate in their loved one’s recovery process through our family programming.
You will receive education about family systems and how chemical dependency affects the family during your Tuesday Family Group Sessions.
We invite family to attend every Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 PM throughout your loved one’s stay.
Family members are required to check in at the main site located at 109 North Shore Drive in Waverly. All families — whether their loved one in treatment is male or female — attend the Family Program on the main campus.
- There is no fee for the Family Program.
- Please bring a photo ID.
- Please do NOT bring personal items for your loved one to the sessions. Any such items will need to be returned to your vehicle, which may cause you to miss some of the programming and disrupt the session. The appropriate time to bring such items is during regular visiting hours.
Please Remember: NO CELL PHONE USE IN OUR FACILITIES
This is to protect patient confidentiality against the potential misuse/abuse of recording technology including audio and film. We thank you for your understanding and support in this matter.
